Beloit Public Library to Host Summer
Kick-Off Celebration THIS SATURDAY!
Beloit Public Library invites families of all ages to its Summer Library Kick-Off Celebration on Saturday, June 7, from 1:00–3:00 p.m. 
 
Celebrate the start of summer with a free, drop-in event filled with colorful crafts, creative fun, and reading inspiration for all ages. This year’s theme, “Color Our World,” brings a burst of vibrant energy to the library, with lots of hands-on activities. Plus, don’t miss your chance to register for the 2025 Summer Reading Challenge, running June 7 – August 2. Participants of all ages can log minutes they read and collect prizes.

Library Director Updates the City on Discovery PLAYce
At the May 19 Beloit City Council meeting, Beloit Public Library Director Nick Dimassis provided an update on Discovery PLAYce, the library’s forthcoming early learning center designed for children ages 0–6 and their caregivers. Discovery PLAYce is poised to become a cornerstone for early childhood education in Beloit, offering families a dedicated space to foster learning and development from the earliest years.

BPL Foundation Awards Scholarships
Beloit Public Library Foundation awarded $700 in scholarships to two graduating seniors working at Blender Café to pursue their post-high school degrees. Both students are soon-to-be graduates of The Lincoln Academy who have worked at the café as part of a partnership between the library and TLA. Congratulations to Rafael Ramos and Ava Guadarrama.

BPL Foundation Honors Literacy and Leadership at Donor Appreciation Event
The Beloit Public Library Foundation hosted its annual Donor Appreciation Event last month, recognizing community support that enabled nearly 15,000 library program connections in the past year—as well as honoring a beloved library initiative and recognizing a respected statewide library leader whose contributions left a legacy. The Foundation presented two special awards recognizing outstanding contributions to literacy and library service—the inaugural First Edition Award and the the Library Champion Award.

Congratulations, Rachel!
Let's hear it for Rachel Gordy-Chaney, whose name was drawn as the May winner for participating in our feedback survey. She'll receive a BPL tote bag, clip-on reading light, notebook, insulated tumbler, and a $10 gift card for Blender Café. Rachel, your prize package can be picked up at the main service desk of the library any time during our regular business hours. Congratulations!
