BPL to Receive $10,000 Carnegie Gift in 2026
Beloit Public Library is one of roughly 1,280 Carnegie Libraries that will be receiving a $10,000 gift from Carnegie Corporation of New York to celebrate the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence.

Closed for Thanksgiving
Beloit Public Library will be closing at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, November 26 and be closed all day on Thursday, November 27 for Thanksgiving. Regular hours will resume on Friday, November 28. Miss us? With your library card, you can access our digital resources 24/7/365. Our drop box is always open, and free Wi-Fi is always available from our parking lot.

BookQuest Author Tours Beloit
We are reeling from a whirlwind tour with author Margi Preus as part of our 2025-26 BookQuest Series. Thank you to all of the schools who hosted us: Gaston, Todd, The Lincoln Academy, Merrill, Garden Prairie, Converse, Hackett, and Robinson, as well as Nature At The Confluence. We extend a special thank you to Beloit Public Library Foundation for sponsoring this series that encourages the love of reading among area 4th and 5th graders.

The Civics Academy Explains Tough-to-Understand Topics
Our 2025-26 season of The Civics Academy is off and running. This lunch-and-learn program includes presentations on public finance, city services, and other topics that are important to our community. Presentations are recorded for those unable to attend and posted to our website alongside presenation slides. The next presentation will feature City Manager Jerry Gabrielatos.

Donate Food to Pay Off Your Library Fines
Have late fines? Want to help your neighbors? This holiday season, Beloit Public Library is inviting patrons to turn their late fines into an opportunity to help neighbors in need by donating nonperishable food items. Donate by December 8.

Take a Behind-the-Scenes Peek at Phase I Construction at BPL
Phase I of our construction project is underway. Plastic barriers separate construction areas from public areas while BPL remains open to the public, so we occasionally sneak behind the scenes to provide the public with a look at progress so far.

Our Friends Say "Thank You" for your Support
Friends at Beloit Library (FABL)'s warehouse sale was a success with the sale of nearly 4,100 books. The most popular categories were fiction, children's, and media. Proceeds of the sale are returned to the library to support programming and other special projects. Thank you to our shoppers for supporting our sale ... and thank you to our dedicated volunteers who work tirelessly to make this sale happen!

Children's Collection Shift in Progress
Please note that the children's picture book collection is in the middle of a shift. To make items easier to find, we are reshelving these items back to alphabetical order by author instead of by "neighborhood." If you have any trouble locating an item, please let us know. Staff would be happy to assist!
