Aram Public Library is now a host to a Sorenson VRS, Video Phone! One of the first public libraries in Walworth County to implement the Video Phone, this technology allows deaf, hard-of-hearing, or speech disabled persons to make and receive phone calls.
This is a completely FREE service available during library hours. The deaf user connects to an ASL interpreter and over, the videophone signs to the interpreter relaying the conversation between the two parties. The video phone is located in Study Room #1 offering a private, bookable setting. The Video Phone is also available just stopping by the library, no appointment needed. To schedule the room, please visit aramlibrary.org.
The equipment and training for the video phone was provided by Sorenson Communications through a federal fund created as a result of the Title IV of the American with Disabilities Act of 1990 (ADA).
