When Breath Becomes Air by Paul Kalanithi
At the age of thirty-six, on the verge of completing a decade's worth of training as a neurosurgeon, Paul Kalanithi was diagnosed with stage IV lung cancer.  What do you do when the future, no longer a ladder toward your goals in life, flattens out into a perpetual present? What does it mean to have a child, to nurture a new life as another fades away? These are some of the questions Kalanithi wrestles with in this profoundly moving, exquisitely observed memoir.

April 8 @ 4:00pm Banned Together by Ashley Hope Perez
Books are disappearing from shelves across the country. What does this mean for authors, illustrators, and—most crucially—for young readers?
This bold collection explores book bans through various lenses, and empowers teens to fight back. From moving personal accounts to clever comebacks aimed at censorship, fifteen legendary YA authors and illustrators confront the high-stakes question of what is lost when books are kept from teens.

April 29 @ 11:00am The Splendid and the Vile by Erik Larson
On Winston Churchill's first day as prime minister, Hitler invaded Holland and Belgium. Poland and Czechoslovakia had already fallen, and the Dunkirk evacuation was just two weeks away. For the next twelve months, Hitler would wage a relentless bombing campaign, killing 45,000 Britons (30,000 of them Londoners) and destroying two million homes. It was up to Churchill to hold the country together and persuade President Franklin Roosevelt that Britain was a worthy ally--that she was willing to fight to the end.

Capital Campaign, Phase III

We are thrilled with the progress of our library's renovation/expansion project!  Did you know there is a weekly blog with weekly construction updates?  While you're following along with our progress, the Delavan Aram Public Library Foundation (DAPLF) continues to work diligently towards a Phase III goal of $500,000 in grants, pledges, and/or donations.  If you have a lead on a grant or possible donor, we'd love to hear it.

As all projects go, funding is still needed especially for unique items like in the Discover Zone with hands-on toys and games.  Or, maybe you know someone interested in sponsoring our Whisper Room, a small recording studio? Or, perhaps you know someone who might be interested in donating funding towards furniture?

Our space is special and our community makes it even more so. Donations of any size can be made at the link here or on the image below.  If you have a lead or a question, please reach out to our Director, Michelle Carter, at director@aramlibrary.org
